An eBay Story
DON’T YOU JUST HATE IT when you buy something online, only to discover that the cost of getting it delivered outweighs the actual price of the item? It seems like you are not on your own. The auction and online shopping market through sites like, eBay, Gumtree, Simple Trade and Graysonline, has opened up a competitive marketplace – offering up a huge array of bargains for all to be had. People are securing great deals, especially for second hand goods but unfortunately the courier and delivery options available are not as competitive. This was of course, until MeeMeep arrived on the scene.
Take Kate, for example. Kate bought a 3 seater sofa on eBay for $175 and was over the moon with the bargain she got. “It was absolutely perfect, in great condition and the right look and feel for my sitting room” she said.
Things soured when she got some quotes to get it delivered. “I had two quotes from removal companies to pick up my sofa from Coburg and deliver it to Sunbury (30kms). One quote came in at $180 and the other for a minimum of $200, but the final price depended on how long it was going to take them to travel to and from their depot – I mean really!”
Kate’s joy at the great eBay bargain was slowing turning into a nightmare. She had no one she could ask to help her and hiring a truck or a ute was out of the question because she was under 25 – she was in a real pickle.
Then a friend suggested Kate should try MeeMeep.com, which she did. Kate posted her job on MeeMeep and managed to get her sofa picked up in Coburg and delivered to Sunbury for $75 – a savings of $105 from the cheapest quote. “I just couldn’t believe the price difference”, she said. “Steve, who did the job for me, actually lives just around the corner and was happy to pick my sofa up on his way home from work” Kate said. “He had a great van and couldn’t have been more helpful”. And Steve was happy to do the job for $75, as he wasn’t going far out of his way to pick up and deliver it.
At MeeMeep, we are seeing this scenario all the time. Lots of our members are telling us exactly the same thing. MeeMeep is proving to be a new way of getting those large and bulky items picked up and is freeing up people’s ability to buy more confidently online.
Have you got a similar story to Kate’s? If so, we’d love to hear about it. Leave a comment below or email us at support@meemeep.com.

Community reviews
We all know that trust between strangers online improves though an effective ratings and review system – we have eBay to thank for this! Feedback and ratings are important tools in helping us asses another member, but they are also a valuable indicator of our own reputation!
The way that it works at MeeMeep, is that at the completion of each job, you will be asked to rate and review the other party. You can elect a star rating of between 1-5 for the other party in the transaction. Ratings are an indication of how happy you were with everything. For example, a 3 Star Rating would be good, a 5 Star Rating would be excellent. You will also be asked to give some feedback on your experience in words. These ratings and reviews will be available for viewing in your profile and on each job that is yours and on jobs that you bid on and win.
